Shaire Bascome, of Bridgeport, was arrested around 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19 by Trumbull Police, said Lt. Brian Weir.
According to Weir, Bascome entered the Ten Asian Bistro restaurant with another unidentified male, who was observed grabbing a handful of cash from a tip jar that was on the countertop.
When an employee confronted the man and tried to stop him from leaving, Bascome grabbed the employee by wrapping his arms around her, picked her up and swinging her into a glass door, Weir said.
Both men fled the area on foot, but only Bascome was later apprehended by police nearby in the mall. The second suspect fled into the woods and escaped, police said.
The restaurant employee sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident but did not require medical attention.
Bascome, who was charged with robbery, assault, and disorderly conduct, was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to at Bridgeport Superior Court on Monday, Jan. 27.
He also had an active arrest warrant for violating a court order with a $75,000 bond.
The second suspect’s identity is unknown at this time.
